Ljubicic is on the right track to exit top 20 this year if he continues playing like he did in the second part of the 2007 season . The serve that helped him winning so many cheep points , and gave him the edge in so many encounters seems not to function at the same level anymore. Had a 68% on his first serve in front of Philipp Kohlschreiber, and gave him 6 break points opportunities. The difference was made on the second serve where Kohlschreiber only managed to win 39% of the points .

Wawrinka on the other hand reached 87% first serve points won , and 75% on his second serve against Calleri , defeating him 6-3 6-0. He seems to be progressing from match to match, has great serving abilities and an extraordinary backhand.

Even if Doha is one of Ljubicic's favourite tournaments, reaching the finals here 3 times in the last year, even if hed to head record is 3-0 for Ljubicic , I rate this as a 50-50 match , and I give the edge to Wawrinaka

There isn’t much to say here, the young Del Potro proved last season that he has a great potential , and I strongly consider this year he will confirm this.

Russel plays mainly in challengers and when he rises to the atp level he has great difficulties winning matches.
They have met one time in octomber 2007 on carpet, but Russel has withdrawn at the score 5-2 for Del Potro.
Juan performes great on hard, having a great serve to make his points easier. I have seen Russel play only once, but on clay and he was far from impressive.
Just to make a point here , Russel’s last 2 matches in the season were lost in front of one top 300+ player , and another top500+ player. He also suffered from an injury at the end of the season and I don’t know how well he recovered.

Pavel has a 3-0 head to head record against the german , with a victory on clay , carpet and hard. Shuttler was given a wildcard to apper here, since he was ranked 88 in last season.
Pavel is one of the player best known by me, since I have watched almost all his recent years games. He still has power and accuracy , but his age stops him from performing at the same level all match long.

Shuttler has finished well the year , winning the Kuala Lumpur Ch Mayer on the road. All other players were top 200+ ranked.
Pavel on the other hand had some decent performances at the end of the season, defeating Vligen , but loosing with a great fight against Tursunov and Baghdatis, winning 1 set.

I trust my coutryman , and favour him to win.

They have never met before, and finished the year in 2 different types . Zverev winning Dnrpropetrovsk Ch , defeating on the way Turnsunov , Canas and Becker.

Mayer on the other hand lost 8 out of his last 10 games of the season , recording 6 tournaments in a row where ho lost from the first round . He is more of a clay player, all his impressive results were on this surface . Has an overall negative record on hard court 10-11 in the last year. Was here at Adelaide in the last 3 year but never had any notable victory.

Zverev although played more at challenger level , managed some good results and I think this year he will finish high in the rankings. Has a very strong service that will cause Mayer a lot of problems . Misha is left hander and this will cause Mayer further problems, having a 1-3 record against lefties in 2007.

It won’t be easy , but I feel Zverev will win.

Not the best choice to bet at the start of the season , but I find value in Chela against all who favour Clement. Chela's game even if more suited to clay, is based on andurance.And this should trouble Clement.During all his game Chele seems to wait for the opponent's mistake and this is very irritating. Clement will not wait and will try to hit winners but will make to much unfforced errors.

Hopman Cup isn’t taken to serious by the players but the prizes are decent , aprox 1 mil. This should add some motivation.
Even if Chela finished on a downtrend last year, loosing badly to almost everyone, Clement impressed only on grass from my point of view.
I expect a well balanced match, but I fancy Chela to overcome Clement, with the possibility of making it into a tie break.
Never played together.I should add that Clement has a positive record on indoor hard , meanwhile Chela is only 11-14 in his last 25 matches

Serva lui Wawrinka este perfect adaptata acestei suprafete , iar jocul sau din spatele terenului este un alt atu al sau. Tot ce trebuie sa faca pt a castiga este sa aiba rabdare in schimburile de mingi , pt ca greselile lui Chela vor veni , iar sansele de break vor fi fara indoiala. Baghdatis de partea cealalta se simte excelent pe aceasta suprafata , si este 28-5 pe carpeta incepand cu anul 2000.Mi mult are doar o infrangere in 10 meciuri in acest sezon. Se afla intr-o forma buna si pare a-si fi revenit la potential apropiat de maximul sau. Cei 2 s-au mai intalnit de 4 ori , in 4 meciuri stranse , insa Baghdatis a iesit invingator in 3 dintre ele , ultima partida fiind insa castigata de Ljublicic , in urma unui tie-brteak castigat la 5 in setul decisiv. Ljublicic a peirdut la Seppi , Falla si Koubek la ultimele 3 turnee la care a participat . Faptul ca a pierdut la Seppi este un mare semnal de alarma , iar astazi mizez pe infragerea sa.

Acesta este al 6-lea turneu consecutive al lui Karlovic la care participa ! Si la fiecare dintre aceste turnee a jucat cel putin 3 meciuri. Nu se poate spune ca meciurile sunt foarte obositoare pt el , care trebuie doar sa serveasca in timpul unui meci , insa toata aceasta oboseala trebuie sa se resimta intr-un fel sau altul . Personal , imi displac jucatorii de genul lui Karlovic care nu reprezinta un pas inainte pt tennis , si nici nu fac parte din categoria jucatorilor care sunt o placere sa I vezi jucand. Verdasco l-a mai batut o data in 2006 pe hard iar astazi spun ca are o sansa sa o faca din nou . Bilantul lui Verdasco impotriva jucatorilor cu service puternic este de 14-7 in timp ce bilantul lui Karlovic impotriva jucatorilor de mana stanga este de 22-28. Karlovic a avut fara indoiala un parcurs excellent in ultima luna , insa si Verdasco a avut rezultate mai mult decat decente.

Acum 2 saptamani , la Madrid am pariat pe Mathieu si a fost invins clar de Ancic in 2 seturi. Acum , invatand din greseli , voi paria pe Ancic . S-a oprit in fata lui Youzhny la Madrid , asta dupa ce a trecut lejer de Lappenti. Mathieu , fara un palmares bun pe carpeta, a avut probleme cu GOloubev si fost invins clar de Baghdatis , la Basel. Serviciul lui Ancic este mai puternic si mai bine acomodat pe aceasta suprafata. Mathieu insa are un joc mai bun din spatele terenului. Cu toate acestea ii va fi mai greu sa mi pastreze serva si mizez pe un meci castigat de Ancic , la fel ca si acum 2 saptamani.
